Scrying

Below is a picture of a glass inside a glass. The smaller glass has about 7 small crystals in it. You add water. You can use a candle if you want. You do not have to. The distortion of the glasses in combination with water and crystals will suddenly create small symbols, pictures. It will suggest a reading. Now and then, stir the crystals and water. Use a small stick or a spoon. When you finish, do a releasing prayer. Now and then, add a pinch of salt as a cleaner and again, every few days, clean everything and add fresh water. Sorry you cannot quite see the crystals in the photo but you can get the idea of water scrying.

Emotional Arrows

Emotions are not something we own. We find them or more often they are directed at us by other people. Some shamans think of emotions as arrows. Good ones dissolve and become a warm feeling where negative ones remain as arrows or giant thorns and continue to cause pain. If these arrows remain in a particular place over a period of time, they can cause illness. Shamans, through the help of their empowering spirit, pull arrows and intrusions out and release them to the ground or throw them to the sky to be dissolved the the Great Spirit. Releasing heavy emotion opens energy flow. We often make the mistake of claiming a negative energy and bringing it to our sense of self by saying "I feel sad or depressed or whatever". We have to remember, where did we get that emotion? Speak to it, release it, then bring fresh light to your whole being. These days, it is good to do something of this nature every day.

Working Spirits and Deity

Upper world heavenly deities are not worked. These are the deities and forces you surrender to and receive from. You do not make requests on how things are going to be or ask them divinational questions. They are higher than us. By surrendering to them in meditation and in prayer, their works can be quite profound. This is the source of miracles.
Lower forces, spirits of the earth and underworld, can be worked but you must consider these forces and not overwork them. You can only work the spirits for the benefit of all concerned. There is a difference between high magic and low magic.

Calling the Spirit

Sun and Moon always work together. The Sun is the power, the drum, the sacred songs. It raises energy. The moon is the vision and the spirits that facilitate the work.

Spirit fetish or mojo

Mojo

When a piece of art is talked to and given a spirit or a thoughtform, it becomes a mojo, in essence, a living thing. People do this all the time with objects, unconsciously people put spirit in objects. When you do this with intention, you are making a mojo.

Seven Powers

There is another astrology, which is not a cold calculation but a warm relationship with the planetary deities. At the time of writing this, I hear my Saturn neighbor muttering obscurities as he digs through his tiny garden. On the other side of me, my Jupiter neighbor is off to his legal job and multi-tasking. The workman is in the basement, a Mars type, banging pipes. The clicking of little high heels is above me, as the Venus archetypes are off to work. Also above me, walking and stomping in circles of self-involvement, is my egotistical Solar neighbor. I am sure the Lunars are still waking up and I myself a perfect Mercurial, am telling you all of this. The archetypes are all around us and if you understand the astrology, you can read the omens so clearly.

Magic Circles

The universe being infinite, has no boundaries. Therefore, everybody is in the center of their own circle. If you are magical, then you are in the center of a magic circle. Circles are like reading an astrology chart, which are also done in a circle for a reason. Circles have two parts, one that is fixed and the other that moves, ebbs and flows. Part of your sacred circle is your aura, that ebbs and flows. Your circle has boundaries that also ebb and flow to a degree with your breath, change of mood, and is affected by life's circumstance. That part that is connected to the directions: north, south, east and west, those are fixed. Besides directional forces, there is also earth and sky. Learning to work with your sacred circle is what the work is all about. Be aware of being in the center of your circle, be aware of heaven and the ground, the divine is in the center of your being and in the center of your circle. Heaven sends divine energy down, washes and frees unwanted forces, in essence a cleaning. Then, fresh light, both from the earth and sky, charges you. You have a moment's communion with the divine, you are filled with knowing and special blessing, and then you are done. Do a closing prayer and finish. The magic circle is for magical people. The everyday circle is for everyday people. We work both.

Sources of Power

Earth and sky are sources of power. The sky represents psychic seeing, the power of prayer, visions, journeys and the three upper chakras. It is expansive and a little more abstract. Earth forces deal with spirits, the earth, the elements, the three lower chakras and are more concrete. The heart chakra is the middle world. It stands between the upper and the lower world. It works with both the upper and lower world and the divine spirit, our power that moves in the heart. Shamans call up power, then use earth and sky as tools to send and receive blessings.

Hoodoo

Hoodoo is another name for magic. Everybody practices magic, subconsciously. You don't have to be aware of gravity to be affected by it. It is the same with magical thinking. People associate different ideas with colors . They have their favorite color. People have their favorite perfume. People will unconsciously pick up a stone or a shell without realizing why. The magician is conscious of magical symbology and even understands why people are linking with the symbols they are. People use magic to influence other people. This is very true with love. You go out to eat food. Cards, music, and poetry are tools of love. Business does the same, it uses strong emotionally charged phrases to get into your subconscious and to affect you. Once you become conscious of symbols and see the magic that is going on around you everyday, all the time, you become a powerful omen reader. It is a good practice to periodically have your aura and energies cleared, clear those thoughtforms, clear the emotions, re-dedicate yourself to the Divine Spirit.

Cleaning and Purification

During a reading and a spiritual cleaning, emotional stuff comes up. It is not uncommon for people to shed a tear and to have a lot of old feelings suddenly surface. This is good since it is emotion and grief being released. Now here is the oddity: Our inner energy can link with the elements. Emotions being released can be so intense, it affects the plumbing of a house and the electricity. The plumbing is more common but electricity can pick up on the energy. My apartment, where I have been reading for the past 22 years, has had a lot of odd phenomenon in and around the bathroom, from the toilet starting to sink through the floor, the shower acting up, and water coming down from the ceiling. Not just occasionally, but quite a bit. These things are not uncommon when you are doing healing work and it is not uncommon for people to feel emotions come up, their stomach, and their psychic center, the navel, to suddenly start acting up. Of course when you explain it to people, they can find it a little hard to believe but it happens so frequently, I know it is a synchronicity of the energy work.

Yantra

Magic Square

This is a magic square, used with the I Ching. At one time the I Ching was cast more spontaneously and the reader used it as a means of tuning in to the intuitive process. Using the I Ching with the book is cumbersome and is only done as a special type of reading. When you are reading another person, you need a fast system to keep up with the communication to their spirit and the spirits at large.

Divination

The ancients used divination as an interactive means of communicating with the heavens. There was no sense of a fixed fate. Through divination and words of power, they were negotiating with the heavens on means of changing and improving our fate. There are very few things that are absolutely fixed in the fates.

The Shaman

The shaman is a seer and healer. The shaman has an altar ego that is their source of power, very similar to a spiritualist medium, who works with a guide. Shamans "journey", which is a part of their seeing, they journey to the underworld which shows them the source of a problem and they journey to the upper world, which shows them the solution. Through the power of the altar ego, shamans heal, either by bringing something back that is missing, called soul retrieval, or removing something negative like an emotionally charged thoughtform, which can often be seen as an arrow, an intrusion.

Three Sacred Centers

Three Dan-Tiens

Three important centers: head, heart, and stomach. The third eye is the intellect, the ability to see spiritually. The heart is the emotion, the ability to feel. The stomach is the Dan-Tien, your energy center. In the East, these are called "three secrets": Yantra, mantra, and mudra.

Crow on the square of the moon

Crow

Omens

When I see an omen, I acknowledge it by saying "Spirit, bless me" or "Spirit, blessings to thee." Spirit speaks through signs. You are either getting a cleaning or a blessing or both. You have to interpret the sign and some can be quite sophisticated in their message.

Divine Mother

Divine Mother

The Divine and Holy Mother is a patron for some, spiritualist and mediums.

Heaven and Earth

Earth is reality, our center of gravity, grounding. It relates to the three lower chakras which are physical. Heaven is idealistic, spiritual, and somewhat abstract and it relates to the three upper chakras. We stand in the middle, the heart center, between heaven and earth, balancing reality and spirit. On those occasions where the physical and the spiritual come together, we can have a miracle. This is also called the axis mundi, upper, middle, and lower world.

Magick

Magick is the art of the spirit. It uses the elements, fire-earth-air-water. Basically you are creating sacred space, building up power, and communicating with your source. Magick should not be rigid, there should be a flowing, creative interaction with spirit. Magick is an art and actually explains the power of art.

Triangle of manifestation

Trinity in prayer

The triangle of manifestation is the trinity of prayer. The trinity is air, fire, and water, air being the source, the divine, water being the cleaning and releasing, fire being the blessing. An example of this would be praying for a relationship. You have to contact your inner source, then clean residue from old relationships as you invoke something new. The triangle of manifestation.

Water and red wax divination

Water bowl divination with red candle wax

Dripping drops of wax into a water bowl, blowing upon the wax as it moves and takes form, reading the images and speaking into the water, both a sending and a receiving.
If you look at this picture, perhaps you will see a heart, maybe a dragon. That is what I see, dragon heart!
Water bowl divination.

Prayer

All ritual is prayer. In fact, it is the prayer that makes the ritual come alive. There is so much more to prayer power that just asking the divine for things you want. Prayer is both simple and a complex study, geometrical patterns, magic circles, the lighting of candles, the offering of water, the contacting of the spirit within, is all part of a prayer. Center of the great work is the contact of the abstract core, the Holy Spirit, and developing an interactive relationship.

Eric Teissedre

I started doing spiritual work in 1962. I was 15. Five years later, I started working as the resident psychic at Borsodi's Coffee House in Isla Vista, California, near the UCSB campus. I worked there from 1967 to 1977.
Borsodi's was an absolutely cool place. It attracted clientele from around the world. It was started by Robert and Linda Borsodi. Later, Robert Borsodi started another coffee house in New Orleans. Working there for those 10 years, I learned my craft. I was often reading up to 20 people per day. I would start at 4 p.m. and get off work at 2 a.m. I have many wonderful memories of that time and read some incredible people from every walk of life. Being so close to the University, I was asked to be a guest lecturer and for a period of time, was teaching a class in parapsychology.
